On May 1, 2025, I was at a red light where Palo Alto Ave intersects with El Camino Real (ECR) heading northward. When the light turned green, I proceeded forward and then paused for a few seconds to enter the flow of traffic safely, intending to make a legal U-turn at the upcoming intersection with another traffic signal (Cambridge & ECR), which is the only way to go south on ECR. As I paused, the driver behind me honked loudly and continuously. I was waiting for an opening, then I proceeded. In the next few feet on ECR, he accelerated and passed me to get in the U-turn lane in front of me. It was ridiculous. Now he was in front of me waiting for the signal to make a U-turn (remember this is 8 AM, the day is just starting; strange for somebody to be so impatient and angry already). So this time, I honked at him. Apparently, this angered him so much that he opened his door, and I saw his right arm rise up. I ducked instinctively, not knowing if he had a gun or what. It turns out he had a bottle and threw it at me. Luckily, it was an empty plastic water bottle, but still! I will also report this to the police. The driver had some sort of head covering. I got his plate and took a picture. Later, I looked up the vehicle (2023 Polestar).
